About the Summit
The Peritoneal Summit brings together surgeons, immunologists, oncologists, nephrologists, bioengineers, and basic scientists with a shared interest in the peritoneum — a tissue that bridges immunity, repair, fibrosis, and disease.
The inaugural Summit took place in January 2025 in Pontresina, Switzerland (read about the 2025 edition). The 2nd Summit returns in September 2027, this time in scenic Spiez on Lake Thun, with an expanded program of keynote talks, workshops, and campfire sessions for early-career researchers.
What to expect
- Expert keynote speakers and chairs across peritoneal biology, surgery, and bioengineering
- Interactive workshops on imaging, single-cell, and translational methods
- Campfire sessions — informal evening gatherings designed especially for early-career scientists travelling alone
- A scenic alpine setting in Spiez, walking distance from the train station and 30 minutes from Bern
